3 Types of Beekeeper Honey
The truth is that honey is more complex than we tend to see it. It is very important to break down the honey that we see and eat everyday into smaller units that can be studied for further detail. For starters, it must be noted that beekeeper honey is categorized depending on the source of nectar, the packaging and processing as well as things like grading. There are 3 particular types of honey if looked at from the nectar source point of view;
1. The Polyfloral type of Honey Polyfloral beekeeper is the type of beekeeper honey which is made as a result of collection of nectar from several flower types. Also called wildflower honey, this type of honey is usually produced by bees that have access to quite a number of flower types. The bees are able to collect nectar from more than one source and at the end of the day they collect all this nectar and the resultant honey is actually more like a mixture of sorts. This polyfloral type of honey is usually quite unique and distinct in its taste and it varies over time and it can change its taste annually. With an aroma that is outstanding, this type of beekeeper honey has a taste that is very unique as well.
2. The Monofloral type of Honey This type of honey is made as a result of visits by bees to just one single type of flower. The nectar that the bees collect is just one type of nectar and it usually ends up making this kind of beekeeper honey. The honey produced might have come from the same flower type but at the end of it all, each monofloral honey type has got its own flavor and taste as well as color. This is due to the fact that the original sources of the nectar are different and as a result even the honey produced will be different in respect to the flower from which it was collected. However, even in instances where bees are exposed to one type of flower type, there are cases where the bees might stray once in a while and collect nectar from another flower source.
3. Honeydew beekeeper honey Sometimes, instead of collecting honey, the bees end up collecting honeydew. As a result they form this kind of beekeeper honey which is otherwise dangerous for the bees as it causes dysentery amongst them and can easily lead to their death. It is a common type of honey in the German black forest and also in certain parts of Northern California and Bulgaria and Greece. Due to its rather strong flavor, there are places where selling honeydew beekeeper honey becomes a little difficult.
