Installing Wall Sconce Lighting The Proper Way To Get The Best Glow
A very popular home decor accessory is the wall sconce. Sconces are basic, yet could add lots of refinement to any space of your choosing. They are truly one of my favorite types of home design accessories for the reason that I am a minimalist. Strategically placed wall sconces can altogether replace big floor lamps, free up a lot of room, while still providing sufficient lighting.
But the key phrase to pay attention to is "strategically placed." Many people just aren't aware how and where to place them, so they don't get the maximum benefit from their sconces.
So let me give you some tips on how to install wall sconces, the proper way.
You will want to place the wall sconces at or above head height. Basically, a a sconce that is too low looks odd. Moreover, Sconces which are too low make the space look smaller. As a general rule of thumb, you will want to place your wall sconce lighting about six feet from the floor.
Sconces should be used to bring out focal points of the room. They themselves should not be the major focal points in the room. For example, if there is a great looking clock, couch, arch, or whatever it may be, and you want people to notice it a little more, place one or two sconces in a well thought out arrangement near it.
For hallways and walkways, I suggest that you place a sconce one quarter away from the start, as well as one quarter away from the end. When there is an unusually long distance, consider placing one smack in the center. When you have a zig zagging corridor, put a sconce at each pivot point.
