How is Bonsai Wiring done
Bonsai propagation requires proper supplication of nutrients, exposure to sufficient amounts of sunlight, adequate supply of water, pruning, repotting, and proper wiring of its branches. Bonsai wiring is very important in forming a beautiful structure of a bonsai tree. When you are planning to wire your bonsai tree, you should ask for advice from professional bonsai growers as they can help you to maximize the possibilities of having a beautifully structured bonsai tree.
Bonsai wiring is not a difficult task but you need to have adequate knowledge about how to perform bonsai wiring properly. This will help you to achieve a good shape of your bonsai plant, and prevent damages to its branches that it can possibly acquire due to the wires used on it. Here are seven easy steps that you can follow to help you manage bonsai wiring:
1) Choose an appropriate wire for your bonsai tree. You need to know the right type of wire for you to use in your bonsai wiring. Usually anodized aluminum is used by beginners in bonsai plant propagation. It is soft and can be easily molded. Anodized aluminum is also used by professional bonsai plant growers to shape the bonsai trees that have thin barks. Annealed copper wire is stronger than anodized aluminum and it is best to use for tough branches of bonsai trees.
2) When you are planning to do bonsai wiring, consider the season of year. It is recommended to perform bonsai wiring during autumn or winter because at these periods of time, the bonsai plants slowly grows. It can help you prevent scar formation on the branches of your bonsai tree.
3) Use appropriate bonsai wiring methods. There are two methods of wiring a branch of bonsai tree. You can use double wiring method for two branches that are close to each other, and has the same diameter. You can make use of single wiring method for single branches of bonsai tree.
4) Secure each wiring. Before you start wiring the branch, you should secure it first on the trunk of the bonsai tree. For double wiring method, you should start the wiring on the trunk at least once, and for single wiring method, you should start the wiring still on the trunk at least twice.
5) Maintain regular space intervals during bonsai wiring. Ensuring regular space intervals will allow proper growth for the bonsai tree while adjusting to its new form.
6) You can bend the branches after the wiring is done. Use your hands to support the outer portion of the branch, and use your thumb to bend the branch by applying force to the inner portion of the branch. This technique will prevent splitting of branches.
7) Watch out your bonsai wiring during peak growth seasons. You should check regularly your bonsai tree with wired branches especially during spring and summer seasons. These seasons promotes faster growth for the bonsai tree. Regular checks of bonsai wiring will help you prevent formation of scars on its branches.
