I know what you're thinking. From reading the title you could probably say: "It's another Eames Chair. Eames Fiberglass Chair this time. Why are people making such a big fuss about it?"If I'm wrong, just skip the long intro and jump in the middle of the page. But if I guessed correctly, then read on.
Before I proceed on telling you what is so great about this chair, I would like to first give you an idea about how great the makers of this chair were.
Almost all curators of vintage furniture and art know about the Eames and how they have influenced the design in today’s era. If you don't know about the Eames and if you personally don't know any antique furniture collector, ask the people who buy and sell through Ebay! They'll probably tell you the Eames were some couple who made chairs. True. But that would be an understatement. For the sake of those who do not know about them, well, the Eames (Charles and Ray) were one the best designers in architecture and modern furniture in the 20th century! They pioneered many designs that we see in modern art today. They are in their times, constantly looking for ways to innovate the usual furniture and do it in the most environmental way possible. Their works have been still sought after many art enthusiasts even until today. I could even tell you why some people even them as "GODS" in the art world. But to put it in a nutshell: They were Legends.
Okay okay, so what's good about this chair? We know that any Eames chair has its own good and unique qualities, so what makes this chair so different from the others?
Well, this particular chair has a shell made of fiberglass with a four Eiffel legged braced wire base, formed and designed to create perfect comfort for the user when sitting. It is not an armchair (nor the sides have any armrests, though there are variations that have these features), which means that it provides more freedom of movement for the body. Many people just love to do aerobics with this kind of chair!
And since it was designed by the Eames, quality is top notch! Just make sure you get the shell made of fiberglass and not plastic. Its sturdiness is guaranteed, no matter how many times you hit an Eames-Chair-Robber with it! The chair will last a lifetime. And of course the item is available in a variety of beautiful colors.
